Keys to Communication with Your Spouse
Communicating from one's heart to another is the goal, but how many people ever achieve it. Like most couples, we failed to communicate effectively. We had many obstacles from poorly identifying non-verbal cues to respecting each other's feelings that lead to microaggressions against one another. Ultimately God's love cleared the path so that we could hear each other's hearts cry.
We learned from Adam how important communication is to a spouse and God's will for the family. Adam's failure to communicate God's instructions effectively cost more than they both realized (Gen. 2:16-17). From Adam's example, we learned that it is vital to dial-in and pay closer attention to each other because of the details.
The path to sincere communication is closer than you think. Like paying attention to your spouse's non-verbal gestures can help avoid confusion. The key is getting close and being present allows you to know what your spouse is thinking or feeling. The path to your souls communicating is determined by what is important to you and God.
